This is one thing I think about a lot. I wish that some technology did not exist. With all the great things technology brings to you, it also has some downfalls. Most people are using technology everyday for a long period of time. Slowly your life is slipping away. I would rather be spending my time with my family. Go places with my parents while they are still young. I just want it all to go away, but if it went away it would be difficult to communicate. So if I'm away from it all for a little while that's what I'll be doing. That's just my story.

What is your story. What do you guys think, agree or disagree?

I agree that it has indeed sort of kidnapped me from my family. I wish I could spend more time with them.

But in another way, I've met so many people because of technology, and I'm so thankful for all my friends from all around the world.

I think there are both sides to a story.

Although Social Media is very useful compared to let's say 1920's when you had to either fly a Pigeon with a note stuck to it or use one of those wind up phones, You have a point. Some people nowadays are just on Technology a bit too much - Good Example is in school, We were in Maths last year and all the boys up the back were playing "Clash of Clans" during schooltime!

For; Social Media/Technology is something which should only be used in spare time, not 24/7. However there is one upside to Social Media - You make online friends, and meet really good people you would never meet at Sports Clubs/School etc... I've personally met many many people online and have created not only short-term friendships, but life long. I've meet so many people via Luxwander who I now have strong friendships with, even though we're on different sides of the Earth.

Against; Yes, You should spend time with your IRL friends and family, they're not here forever and will probably live shorter than those online, Family comes first in my opinion so spend time with them while you can, Once you've finished High School/College and into the realworld, depending on your job/location etc You may not even get to spend time with your family, but may instead be working. You cannot let the Internet kidnap you and take your life from you. There are so many other things you could do without spending it all on the Internet/Technology, Go outside, do some gardening, go for a visit to the airport, go for a bike ride, a hike, a walk around town, go visit the country-side, there is so much you could do! Hence, Why I record Vlogs and take many pictures in life, nothing will always be the same forever and some people have to wake up realize this unfortunately.

Just my opinions on both sides of the story  :smiley-sneaky-25px:

P.s. I'm not really good at Persuasive..

From what I have seen in this topic, I think the technology you're referring to is the Internet. If you're referring to all technology, then there shouldn't be a problem with keeping it. But on the topic of the Internet, I'd still say Yes. The Internet may take away time from our families and friends, but it also helps us learn. We can look up facts that we don't know about and facts that aren't usually taught in school. We can also communicate with friends you have moved far away. You don't have to think the Internet will always stop you from spending time with others. You can even use the Internet as your advantage. You can plan many trips by searching the different places you can go to. If that doesn't work, then try to find something else. Technology isn't a "solid" thing. You can twist the ways you use it in many ways. Make it your own. The Internet and technology aren't something only one person can use, many others can use it alongside.

(like smaug said, I'm not good at these things either >_<)

I strongly agree with True on this -- I believe the Internet has still, overall, made both the world as a whole and the individual lives of people better than before. It allows access to limitless information that not only aids you in school, but also in your social and emotional life. As True mentioned, the Internet can further strengthen relationships, be it long distance or your next-door neighbor. Social networking allows you to share your life at any moment with your friends and relatives like never before with pictures, videos, instant messaging, and event-planning. However, as also mentioned previously, the Internet also affects the emotional state and life of a person. On a personal note, I've found myself many times logging on to the Internet after a bad day just to have fun while being perfectly anonymous, free from any grudges or reputation. It allows me to ask questions that anyone in their right mind would never ask in real life just to quench my curiosity, see new perspectives on matters from people all over the world, and gives me inspiration to do more with my own life when coming across things like major craft projects, parkour, and the likes. Not to mention the humor attached to many posts, videos, photos, and memes. I doubt there was any time in history where you could get quite as good of a laugh by searching "fail" in an encyclopedia. In short, the vast information all over the internet helps people; it makes them happy, comforts them when they're sad or depressed, allows them to better connect with their friends, helps them learn and collect knowledge about more and about any topic than ever before, and all in a day where they can remain anonymous and do something or be someone completely different again the next day.

Destroying and leaving behind the Internet would be a huge mistake in the world. The world relies so much on the Internet now, but this is a good thing, because it truly is helping people. Many people's lives have changed because of the Internet because it allowed them to show what they have to the world and more quickly grow in fame and accommodation. The Internet is a beautiful creation that, in my eyes, shouldn't be despised.

I'm aware that people are going to comment on this saying that being anonymous is hardly a good thing, as it can certainly be used with bad intent (and often is), but this is a topic about the usefulness of the Internet, not the safety. If the conversation will sway more to the safety of the internet, then so be it, but for now, these are just a few bits of my thought on the matter.

I was expecting this to be a big debate topic but then Shroud came along...

Anyway, I really do think technology can be a great and horrible thing, technology helps us communicate and helps us grow along with others all over the world. I have also met a lot of great people from all over the world thanks to technology

But then again technology is ruining our lives, technology is pulling all of us away from our families and friends that we have known for years, it is pulling us closer to people that we have never actually met. Life is pretty much based on technology these days, everything is done online, heck even third graders at my school have gotten laptops, they aren't really experiencing school like most of us did, they aren't learning a lot of important things because they are spending so much time learning how to get around blocks on websites, how to base their lives off of the Internet.

Technology is a great thing but I just think that it has come too far.

To me, technology has a light side and a dark side... Technology has helped us in so many ways, from school to household items such as your blender, it has also helped us track and forecast weather, and where the next monster severeweather outbreak will strike, it has helped us communicate with each other, via phone, email, walkie talkie, it has even helped us produce some grat bands like Skillet and tobyMac, and it has enabled us to make some of the greatest movies ever, take Star Wars for example, the special effects George Lucas used when it came out in 1977, effects like that had NEVER EVER hit the silver screen, there was no such thing as a lightsaber untill Lucas came up with the effects for it, there was no sci-fy movies like Star Wars untill '77, and it's been changing since. Technology has also sent our world into chaos, we've got stuff like pedo's who will pretend that they are some cool teenager on a game and then just when you think they are really nice, they show up at your doorstep and kidnap you... Tech has also caused great grief throughout the internet world, from pornography to hackers to people who are just plain jerks, and like what Peri said earlier, it can separate us from our IRL friends and family if we're not careful, although having Ingame friends is nice, that's not the same as real people.

So Technology is good and bad, we cant live without it, yet it causes great pain if we're not careful.
